My eyes are getting old like me and Im gonna have to put a scope on my 44 mag rifle. I know most of the lever guys will disagree but i just cant see through the irons that well anymore. What do the experts suggest???

I really like the Leupold FX models in either standard or scout configuration. The are light, clear, rugged and guaranteed forever. What's there not to like?

I put a 1x-3x power on my lever 44 mag. I love it.

Have a Nikon 1.5-4 on the semi auto Ruger
Leupold of same power on a custom boltaction
Vortex 2-7 on another the 788
Leupold 2-7 Rifleman on a Winchester 94

Yes I am a 44Mag carbine fan for hunting deer and hogs, going to try the Vortes Strike Eagle on one of these just haven't decided which one.

The 2X7-32 are one of my favorite size scopes for most of the hunting I do. They gather more light than many of the lower magnification scopes if all else is equal and 2X is low enough power for close up hunting

1.5 x 4x weaver in Talley mounts on my Marlin 44mag. Had to add a leather cheek pad to the stock to get my head up where it needs to be. Any low power scope will do, I'd recommend getting a more forward type mount than the Talleys. I shoot it just fine but wish the scope was up a little further.

Yes, it was a Weaver 1-3. I love the open sights of a lever gun. But for this rifle I used it for night hunting pigs from a bow stand about 25-30 yards away from the feeder. I mounted a simple light to the scope so I could see for hunting at night. It worked great. I also took a turkey from 260 yards with my Marlin lever gun. First round hit at turkeys feet, then I adjusted up, and second shot dropped the walking turkey from 260 yards. Held the elevation and gave a little lead. I had shot this gun at 200 and 300 yards previously, and knew my holds for those distances. I drove up to my brothers feeder, and there were 2 dozen turkeys. I shot this bird from the hood of the truck. One of the coolest shots.

Here's a picture of my Marlin and the pic of the turkey that morning.

I have a friend that put a red dot scope on his for the same reason. No magnification but easier for him to see that the iron sights.

I kinda like that idea. I've scoped a couple of 336s and they worked fine, but to me a scope just doesn't look quite at home on a 94 or 336. I can't really imagine how one would look with an Eotech on it...maybe not so "right," but it seems like it would be awfully fast to get on target.

How is every person on this thread not suggesting this scope. I have it and use it.

What about a receiver or tang mounted peep?
