About to wrap up a great weekend with some great brothers and heroes!
The men started showing up Friday afternoon and it was like old friends meeting once again even though it was our first time to meet ever. Gordon Melton sent Trey (Marines) and Ryan (Army), and Frank Vargas (Army/HWS field rep.) out to the desert. Once we got everyone settled in, we hit the stands. The men were given one mission directive...hunt for happy. Any buck on the place that made them happy, we were hunting for that one.
Friday night the Marine..."got some!" Trey took this nice main frame 8 that broke its brow tine in a fight. I can't tell, but I think happy came at the end of a .308. You be the judge.
Ryan is a soldier that takes mission to heart, and this mission was no different. Friday night he was very discerning and decided to pass on a 9pt. I think he made a wise choice, especially after what was found at the end of the blood trail last night.
10 point with a left G2 kicker
Had a great time hunting with these guys and sharing war stories.
