I need to get a new scope. Are MILS or MOA better? What about FFP or SFP? Not sure which way to go and I have about $500 to spend so quality is important, i only want the best.

Walmart has some really good ones that will come in under that price. Knowledgeable sales staff too!

You dont need a scope. Its unsportsmanlike to hunt past 50 yards.....

How do you hunt and use your scope? What range are you willing to shoot out to? Is twilight performance important? Do you dial your scope to make the shot? Get together all that information and call either Skylar at SWFA or Neil at Camera Land NY and they'll get you fixed up. For the average guy, some of the deals that Camera Land has on Minox scopes, are a lot of bang for your buck.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

You want the ones that come in those clear plastic blister packages. They usually have brand names like BSA or Simmons.

I just like to point and shoot, and what i use is REALLY flat shooting so i just need something i can zero at 250 yards and then I can be effective out to 700 without having to dial. Twilight performance isn't really to much of an issue since I have a iPhone mount w/ the FLIR app loaded that I can put in front of my scope to see in non-optimal lighting.

Scopes are highly overrated and overpriced. You need to spend the majority of your funds on good light weight chrome plated pot metal rings and mounts. Trick is once you get it sighted in with appropriate ammo and everything tight, spray everything with a can of gutter seal like that advertised on Saturday afternoon TV.
The Greatest Enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.--Stephen Hawking
