Wanted to get a survey of how many are only seeing deer movement at night, or is it just me. I grew up thinking that you need to be in the woods from daylight until sunset, but that was a totally different style of hunting too. We used to sit in the woods in a climbing stand or on the ground waiting for them to come down the trails. We weren't allowed to bait and had to catch them on their to or from the feeding area.

Do their travel patterns change down here? could they possibly start doing all their movement in the morning versus evening?

Over in Mills County, I'm seeing plenty of movement both am and pm. Maybe you have a big green field near where you hunt, and the deer like going to it in the evenings. Could be why your seeing more in the afternoons.

If your area has a lot of hunting pressure they will quit moving a lot especially when it's light out.

I'm seeing good afternoon movement over the last week. It hasn't been uncommon to start seeing doe at 230. Bucks are on there feet by 430. Not seeing many deer in the morning. The ones I do see are before 8am.

I am only seeing movement in the evening. Of course I only hunt evenings as I value sleep too much.

I am seeing movement in AM and PM, but the PM is better and that is due to the Moon phase we just had last week it was rising around 3pm and morning hunts were slower to to the Moon setting around 8-8:30am.

For some reason I tend to see more does/fawns in the afternoon and mature bucks in the morning. Both of my kids shot bucks this year and both were on a Sunday morning. Trail cam shows the same type of thing when we're not there.

I am hoping the end of the full moon along with the continuous 30 degree mornings we have been having maybe they will start going early.

You have such a small property, you could easily be running them out when you go in for the morning hunt. Your morning hunting may be better if you stay to at least 9am, assuming they return. Evening hunts, you are hoping to enter while the deer are bedded and unaware.

my [roperty is not much bigger than what you have now and that has been the deal for 10 years. On a larger place like we had before, not near the impact when going in early it seemed.

I see activity am and PM, some days there is more in the am, some not. Now that we are hitting overnight temps in the 30's, there is a marked difference in the evening (earlier movement)

Seeing movement throughout the day. It's been fairly consistent, seeing different deer
moving this week.

Absolutely, I try to be in my stand by 530 in the morning and I see deer walking down my driveway almost every time coming from the feeder. The previous owner kept a log on the wall and he was seeing a lot of deer later in the morning also around 9, give or take. So that's why I asked if it has been different for others as well this year. The size of my land is my biggest downfall but it also makes it fun. I am just enjoying having my own place. My girlfriends parents have more land that I could go to. They get on the UTV and corn the roads and 15-20 minutes later all the deer come out, so I could go get meat there but its more fun on my place..lol

I have noticed this also. Before we would only get deer on the cam after shooting hours. Now we are starting to see them show up around 430.

Nothing beats having your own land, from just the "freedom" standpoint. Of course, the more land the merrier LOL. Small acreage sure has it's limitations.
