If you're not giving thanks you're crazy, and if you can't make a birddog this year you're not getting out enough! We had 17 coveys pointed today on foot-my lifetime high. With 2 one year old pups...

I have been calling it a miracle with my friends, and I haven't even hunted in Texas yet. I don't ever remember a year when DFW got 18 inches of rain, but I think there is no doubt what the key month for rain is for bobwhites.
Warned the wife she is going to be a bit of a quail hunting widow for the next three months, lost ground to make up from past four years

Our first hunt was the best in 20 years. Going again this weekend. Thank Lord for the birds and for giving me a loving wife that understands and supports my hunting hobby.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

We've received over 40" of rain in S. Tex so far this year (Jim Hogg/Duval Co.). We've moved 20+ coveys per HALF day on several occasions so far, all wild birds and the good stuff hasn't even started yet! Wait till we get a frost or two to knock the brush back a tad and improve the scenting conditions. I bet we get a few 50 covey days easy this year... like the old days!
