Just curious what's the biggest spreads yall have ever hunted over. For me it was +/-2500 snows and 280 divers. The diver spread worked awesome and we decoyed a MESS of redheads, but the snows were a giant waste of time. Set up on a hot field and they musta migrated that night. Only shot 3 geese out of 9 hunters

The 10k goose hunts back in 2001-02. First year we had 10,248 goose decoys out Wow! Was that a permanent spread? I have always been taught that anything less than 1000 is a waste of time for snows. When we drain our pools in february, I put out about 1500 silosocks and a few dozen full bodies for snows. Duck wise, I have hunted over more than 500 mallards on several occasions. A 300 mallard spread in a cypress/tupelo brake in Arkansas is a typical morning.

about 3-4 dozen.
10,000+ decoys? That would make me tired watching a couple guys put all of those out.

For ducks, maybe 4 dozen. Dark geese several hundred.

300-325 ducks in the MS delta. Nothing larger than 8 dozen ducks in TX. Had 1000+ Ducks late season night before- I am a believer that small is usually better. All about realism and motion- at least type of water I hunt. Had some of my best hunts w 1-2 dozen dekes out. Last year slayed mallards last few weeks with jerk rig, bubbler, and a dozen dekes- had 50-75 birds on water night before. We add goose socks on every hunt around blind which seems to draw them in for a least a close look when they are not cooperating

Well you said we pulled a lot of redheads, nothing about any other birds, so just goin off that buddy, and by your duck total for the first split was just divers if I'm correct, so I'm just saying that's a lot of excessive work for a couple of divers, if your in the areas with puddle ducks why not go set up on the pond that they really want to be on with a dozen decoys, instead of sittin out on some island in the Laguna with 300 decoys, carry on

Cuz I like divers more than puddlers That day, we did only shoot reds. Didn't see anything else. Most days, we'll have a few bills, butterballs, goldies, sprigs, or whatever else in the strap. I wasn't bummed one bit though. I call it a good day when you decoy around 5000 birds.

Lol I'd rather have 30 ducks on one shoulder and 12 decoys on the other than set out 300 decoys and shoot a couple times and watch dirty divers all day but hey that's cool too

I pretty much always hunt 2 dozen or so in Texas, sometimes more sometimes less. That 8 dozen was only once, maybe twice. Mississippi is a whole different ballgame, can't compare it to Texas. When it comes to mojos I don't use them in Texas, just a jerk rig, but it varies in Mississippi. If the first few birds flare, we don't hesitate to pull the mojos. Very hit or miss with them over there, especially on WMA's. If a bunch of guys at the gate(can't enter until 5) have them, I don't put it out and have tons of success.

Ya just gotta know what the birds want. When we used to hunt deep woods beaver ponds, we'd set out 6 & have hundreds land on our feet. When you're dealing with massive flocks of divers or trying to draw in migrators, you need a few more
