So Chad cooked me up some nice 178gr A-Max for my Rem 700 AAC_SD 308. Work like a charm on whitetail. wink

I'm going hunting this weekend for some nice Sika stag. Will this load do the trick or should I go ahead and take some 180gr Core-lokt?

Good to hear! Here's a picture of my 178 A-max from my 308 Win BULK MATCH ammo recovered from the off side area from an elk. Shot was from 70 yards, and went a short distance.

The 308 is not going to be pushing that bullet fast enough to shred it, those velocities are right in a cup and core bullets wheel house. Go have fun, get your Sika and post up some pictures.

I don't know, but it was a common length barrel, nothing short.

I've been shooting the 168 Amax in my 18" Ruger American with excellent results on pigs. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a deer with this round.

I shoot the 178 amax out of my 17 in 308 ... Killed 4 deer so far this year and all was left with a nasty exit

I have killed a lot of deer with a 168gr .308 a-max.

For a long time, hornadys manual even listed it for thin skinned game.

I push this round at about 2600fps

I've killed four 200lb axis with 120grain A-max none took a step.
