Which tripod do you use/have for hunting? Right now I'm looking at the Bog-Pod Tactical and the Bog-Pod Camo ones. Which is better? Pros vs cons? Also, leaning towards the one that can be used for standing and kneeling/crouching, instead of the sitting/prone one.
Thanks.

Reaper rest is awesome, just a little tough to carry if your walking and hunting at the same time.

Gen II is way more portable. You need to borrow mine, it's cheating.

I used a Primos Trigger Stick on an Axis hunt in June. Worked great, especially if you need to quickly adjust up or down a little.

I use the Bog Pod tri pod. I like the newer heavier ones you are looking at. They have better hardware to lock the legs than the lighter older ones. I think, just as important , I use a Bog Pod mono-pod at the rear if I'm sitting on a fence line or somewhere out of a blind. Its very steady.... I use the mono-pod inside the blind for rear butt stock support, also very steady You are on the right path IMO.

Cool. I ended up ordering the Bog-Pod Tac series tripod. It was $10 cheaper than camo/hunt version, and looked the same.
Thanks for everything, y'all.

Best I ever had was two dowel rods held together with a machine screw. I got real fancy with the set I used for prairie dog hunting and electrical taped the short ends where the rifle sits. I used to keep them in the seat of the mule. Forgot to take them home one summer, and when I returned to SD the next year they were still there. I guess no one had seen them, or they didn't think much of them.

Best option is a hog saddle. It was designed by a marine corp scout sniper.
After that check fiber glass shops or boat shops and see if they will cut you to your length of choice 2 5/8 sticks and wrap where you will rest your rifle in tennis grip tape. Cheap, effective, and nearly indestructible.

I have a Primos Trigger Stick and a Bog-Pod and its definitely the Trigger Stick that does it for me. With the Primos you can make those adjustments on the fly with one hand while with the Bog-Pod it takes both hands and a few moments. Moments you may need. Now if you're only using them in a static position such as sitting in a blind or a concealed position then the Bog-Pod will work well. I do alot of stalking in the mountains with alot of sitting and standing involved. So Trigger Stick for me.

The rubber rest can grip the stock tight and change point of impact, if not careful with snugging and support butt I just made another one out of surveyor's tripod and I think it's the chit

Primo's Trigger Stick, Gen 2, with a Hog Saddle added up top. Very steady, and very fast and easy to adjust, way faster than a Bog Pod, which I used previously. Make sure to actually practice shooting off of the sticks before going hunting.

I've got quite a collection of pool cues over here... I've been thinking of getting a piece of leather and making a shooting stick out of two of the longer ones.
Kind regards, charlesb

I've got both the Trigger Stick and the BogPod. The TS is much faster to adjust from scratch, but it's also bulkier and heavier. I actually prefer the BogPod if weight/bulk is a consideration. They also make a deluxe rest top, if that matters to you. Both are very good products and are both worth owning.

I prefer my own sticks made from red oak. Been using this one set forb20 years and still killing off of them. May build another set in the near future. My sticks are solid. Made one of my longest shots, 477 yards on a coyote from them. Routinely get them out and shoot steel with 300 WM out to 400 yards.

The BOG POD is great! Dry fired a little off of it and I'm seeing that it's a pretty solid rest. Should be able to get the job done. Only thing is that it needs to be set prior to going afield. Not too big of a deal, IMO.
