They should allow narrow bucks to be taken every few years in those AR counties to balance things out.
But that would be using common sense and there seems to be a shortage of that in our TPWD.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I'd say it is pretty much a "lack of common sense" by hunters, that got this AR thing started in the 1st place..Not all hunters certainly, but enough "brown its down" to make an impact.

I'd be willing to bet that there are many on this forum that would shoot a young narrow deer.

Most people I know claim you need a lawyer to interpret the game laws already. If you start allowing narrow bucks to be shot certain years, people will just get confused. Some people can't tell 13'' right now and ya'll expect them to evaluate a 2.5 year old from a 4.5 year old? AR's are not perfect, but no law is. They must be working, because in my county I see more and bigger deer than ever before. If you guys are over run with narrow deer, apply for mld permits.

I would if it was legal! I do not like AR's but hunt a county that has them for 10 years.
My belief is that you follow them, let a buck walk and your neighbor shoots them.

Mr. Clean it happens. I let a spike walk under me in Illinois and it walked a hundred more yards and wawoooom!! The meat hungry guy in a tree real close to me killed it. My ex brother inlaw hunted Arkansas next to a guy that had a tower blinde on a pipeline right next to him. Every deer that walked onto that right of way died. Very loud too. I did not like it and would not hunt like that next to a if its brown its down dude. Not always that way, but can be more often than not in non management areas. No fun for me or the deer. I like an old narrow buck though. They are cool.

good luck...stay legal

There's no room for perfectly good logic in this thread.

You know, in Arkansas they have a three point rule, but kids under fifteen don't have to abide by antler restrictions. I'm sure some cheating goes on with though.

I would have to disagree relative to the ops post and question. He asked if you would shoot a very mature 200 inch buck if it only had a spread of 11.5 inches. I don't believe most on here would pass that type of deer. And if you didn't pass it saying that means you would kill other narrow deer that aren't mature is bs

I wouldn't shoot no matter how big it was. I've spent my entire adult life teaching my kids (and now my grandkids) right from wrong. Wrong is wrong no matter how you try to justify it. Y'all do what you want, this is just my opinion.

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.

I would in a heartbeat! I teach my kids right from wrong and I also give them good doses of common sense to go along with the rights and wrongs of the world. Gray areas do exist!

I shot this one and would do it all over again. I'm not in an AR county though.

How bout body size exception? We all know the only way to really age a deer is by it's teeth and you
can't check those out unless the deer's dead or tranquilized. Maybe the GWs should check to see if an
illegal dead buck is mature by checking their teeth, if it's over a certain age, it's legal.
Could be they don't know how to do that though?

I disagree, I have hunted places that required me to take a test to make certain I could age a buck on the hoof. I don't know why there can't be a test to certify hunters in AR counties. That way if you shoot a mature narrow rack buck it will be legal?

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea
