What activity have yall been seeing in what areas? I hunt south of Decatur and it's been slow until this past weekend. Seen 10 does on Saturday evening and a young decent (for this area) 8 point Sunday morning. I think the trinity flooding along with the creek that runs through my property helped for that. Usually this is a sanctuary for deer. We don't usually hunt this property but maybe every 2 seasons. And our neighbors don't hunt at all. Anyone else having better activity and if so what part of your property? I have a decent acorn patch, thick woods, and a small food plot on the edge of an open field along with corn feeders and hand corn in other parts.

Pretty average year I'd say. Too wet to hunt my favorite spot. Biggest issue I have is too much growth making it hard to see anything other than the larger bucks.

I'm in SW part of county.

My uncle hunts on the Trinity between Paradise and Boyd. They have seen plenty of deer all season and the last two weeks plenty of rut action.

I hear shooting out this way, don't know what the hell they are shooting at, only nighttime activity at corn, see most in the food plot. Slowest I've seen in maybe 6 years really.

Kenny, I think the main rut here is over from what little I have seen. Saw bucks on does often a week or so back, but most are hard on the trail. I think that is a good thing, nothing worse than a buck locked down on a doe, most of the time she will go to the thickest crap she can find to try and "rub" him off until she is ready.

My best hunting has always been on either side of the primary rut, good during the late "trickle" rut too.

BTW, how'd you fare with the "mud pit"? If you had ask me to come help, I sure would have. Not much I could have done probably since you sounded pretty stuck, but I could at least stood there with you asking 'what the hell where you thinking Kenny, walk in" grin

I've had the worst luck with cattle this year then I've ever had. The rancher put about 35 head of cattle on the property 2 weeks ago. Haven't ran this head on this property yet. Well long story short I'm going out today to put 1/8 rod around the panels because it looks like someone is cutting the fence wire and laying the panels straight down on the ground. it'll get better though. Least I got a place to hunt. Deer movement is extinct at the feeder now. Hand corn doesn't work because the cattle are on it within minutes. (Even if you hide it). I'm thinking about switching to the oak patch and hope there's some acorns on the ground.

the one time I get my wife to come sit with me and the kids, we have cattle at the gate. I was pissed because I knew they'd follow the truck in, and sure as shootin, they made their way down to the food plot and feeder area. I was sitting a tripod with my daughter trying to get her first deer, my son and other daughter and wife are in the box blind when I see some adolescent and baby cows get into the food plot. I text my son to run them off, he does. 30-45 minutes later, they come back. He runs them off again and then goes all the way back to the truck and we had one bag of corn in there which he took further away and poured out for the cows to keep them away. It worked. he was tired and pissed. I was pissed (more at myself for not having two strands of electric fence around my food plot). We saw no deer that hunt. My wife enjoyed the sunset but it will be a while before she goes back out. That's what I am more mad about. if only she would have felt the excitement of when the deer show up...

Getting more reports of big boys with does. Making sitting in this office very tough.

Lots of chasing this afternoon. Big bucks hitting feeders mid day. Looks like rut is on to me.
