I watch tons of hunting shows on three channels. Can't help but laugh at some of the products and commercials on now promoting "if you use this a Boone and Crockett buck will appear". Total silliness and most of them a waste of time and money. Have read articles for example on spray on odor killers where they were tested in a lab. The only way they work is if you doused yourself from head to toe in the stuff including all your gear.

There are so many others that hunters will get hooked and pay so they have an edge. Nothing beats hunting smart and in the area where there are deer - no gimmicks needed

I have met some guys that buying the latest-greatest hunting gizmo is a hobby to them.
But offering a product that would attract spikes would only appeal to a few, maybe STX.

Oversell is an understatement, you get one five minute hunt, and 25 of ads!

I have seen both of those suggestions posted on this very forum multiple times.

I am 100% pro capitalist, so I don't knock the guys who make the stuff for the idiots dumb enough to buy it, that's America. As a young man, I was one of those idiots, had every gimmick imaginable and never killed a big, hell, even decent buck. What I did do though is learn how to hunt and most importantly, where to hunt. Save your money for a good deer lease and leave the scent killers, Ozone machines, doe pee, etc... for the suckers.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

agree totally - the Ozonics machine is a total joke IMO - also on the deer calls - if I blew one of those where we hunt deer would haul butt

Hey, there was a debate on another board about which corn was better...regular, apple scented, orange scented, or Indian corn from New Mexico. By the way, everything was more expensive than the regular, but they wouldn't be making it if no one was buying it.

I saw a "new" spray on product on a show the other day. Claims to eliminate 99% of replicated human scent, whatever that means. But wait, there's more! It's also a mosquito repellent AND deer attractant roflmao roflmao roflmao

Many folks today don't have the time or inclination to actually learn any woodsmanship/hunting skills. The only other choice is to try and buy themselves a shortcut.

It's a booming market.

The most expensive product I consistently buy for hunting is Miller Lite. I firmly believe it makes me a better hunter and is well worth the investment.

Reminds me of the T shirt I saw awhile back. Picture of a buck mounting a hunter - caption from hunter says "this doe in heat stuff really works"

I bet you could put that picture on a spray can and it would fly off the shelves at Cabala's & Bass Pro the month before the season starts.

The guys that buy into the hunting gadgets will also buy a new set of golf clubs every year, thinking it will lower their scores.
The only thing that gets lowered is their bank account. bolt
