So Friday night my football team that i coach won its Quarterfinal playoff game in what was basically a rainy cold mess!!! So Saturday morning was spent scouting for the State Semi finals this coming Friday night. Saturday night was spent at my brothers wedding! So in other words I had one opportunity to make it to the stand this weekend!!! AHHHHHH!!! Thank God my wife understood and said sure good luck! So off i went. Stopped and grabbed 2 bags of deer corn as a just in case which was smart because the sheep had gotten into the feeder pen and knocked my feeder around so all the corn was gone! Got the corn in the feeder drove back around and in the blind by 3:30. I through a couple of doe bleats out then to see if i could get anythings attention to no avail. So around 3:50 i hit a couple of grunts and then some light rattling. STILL not even a tail flapping. At 4:15 I blew some tending buck grunts and then hit the pack rack one more time at 4:30. Haven't seen movement yet. At 5:00 my feeder goes off and out of no where a young doe walks up.
She starts acting all sorts of crazy as soon as she gets close to the feeder. I thought i had messed up and she could smell me but i realized she was looking past the blind so i figured there was something behind me but i didnt have windows at the back of my blind so i just sat there chilled out. I was watching her and i caught movement out of my left eye and 30 yards away this buck was walking past me. He has not been on camera yet. Our hunters on the other side of our place have seen him and been hunting him all season. Well anyways he gets in the trees and i can see him moving around for about 10 minutes when he finally stepped out!!! One shot with 7mm mag and he dropped 20 yards away. He is the biggest buck i have ever shot and the biggest buck i have ever seen on our small 150 acre place. I was super pumped. He may not be big by alot of peoples standards but he is dang sure pretty to me!!! Love the kicker and the chocolate horns!!!
