Is it ethical to place a stand 20 feet from property line and across fence from neighbors feeder (25 yards from same fence) which is not used for hunting (feeds deer but does not hunt them)?

Let's put the shoe on the other foot. You are the neighbor and the guy on the other side did this, would you be happy? You do not hunt off the property line. imo should stay off property lines at least hundred yards and you don't shoot across lines or towards other property.

Depends on the situation. In general, no. But if all the tracts of land are 25 acres, you may not have an option

Agree with both fellas, but the neighbor "did" put the feeder 25' from the fence, so....You have to make a judgement call based on all your circumstances. As a rule, no but just my opinion.

Actually' I am the neighbor (one with feeder). We had a verbal agreement not to hunt until numbers increased. Apparently one legal Buck is the increase he was talking about. I just thought it was not "neighborly" to set stand that close to fence, not to mention by my feeder, and then not bother to set his own feeder (no need I guess). I wanted to know if my expectations of neighborly conduct were out of line or his. I will be moving feeder that is too close to fence(which was placed prior to actual survey and fence placement). BTW both tracts are in excess of 150 acres.

Y'all would have to have massive tracts to have enough impact on the population in the area if others around y'all are hunting.

Verbal agreement is worth the paper it's printed on. "Is it ethical..." Probably is ethical from his point of view. Is it legal? Yes, as long as he doesn't shoot over your fence line or cross the fence to retrieve a deer.
