A Remington 700 is a good rifle that shoots well. Personally, I like to upgrade the trigger to a Timney. I shoot Remington Core Lokt

Yup, agree with colt. Put a Timney in it and go shoot a few different rounds. Mine likes 180 accubonds that Chad loaded for me.

I have 2 Rem. 700's left, both in .30-06. One is my daughter's (it was my first centerfire rifle, she killed her first deer with it and has claimed it as her's), the other i inherited from my dad. I have Timney triggers in both (it's a very easy swap). Both rifles are pretty darned accurate, they both will shoot 150 and 180 grain loads interchangeably well.

I've been hunting with one for about 5 years. Remington 700 XCR with a Timney trigger. Really fond of that rifle. Very reliable. Took it to Alaska for a black bear hunt and Montana for mule deer and elk. You'll do fine with it for everything from coyotes to elk.

I have an ADL in .30-06 and put a Timney trigger on it. Outstanding rifle. I only put reloaded ammo through it.

How does the timney trigger help? And is there a reason most use reloaded ammo?

Some Remington 700s have a safety recall because the gun can discharge if the safety is clicked off. The Timney fixes that. Plus, a Timney is just a helluva nice trigger.

I would say most use factory ammo, just some folks like to reload.

Oh I see now... Can anyone recommend a good place to take it to have that switched?

I have one though I haven't gotten to use it much mainly for reasons not related to the rifle. I liked it while sighting it in though I'll probably change the trigger on it and if magpul ever comes out with a stock for a long action I'll put that on it.

Buy a $100 timney trigger, and spend about 30 minutes in the garage. Very easy.

I'd venture a guess that more deer hunters have a remmy 700 in 30-06 in their safe than any other gun. Maybe a 30-30 is more popular, but that's about it.

I have one that was passed down by my late grandfather. Still has the stock trigger, but has been reworked. Mine likes the 165gr Remington Core lokt the best, but I've tried a few different rounds. Your best bet is to go buy a box of each bullet and see what it likes.

I have one as well. It was my first bolt action rifle. I too, like many here, put a Timmney trigger. It just a vastly better trigger than the stock. Ive had really good luck with hornady superformance 165gr sst bullets. Fit my B&C reticle out to 400, haven't tried past that. 180 core lokts weren't bad either. Just not as good as the hornady.

I have one I use as my back up to my 700 270. Used it to kill me a buck last week.
