Leave it to the last day for things to start heating up. Capt. Hunter Harwell reported that this evening was nothing short of amazing! We finally got those big groups coming down! When the hunt started this afternoon you could tell something was different as there were a bunch of ducks already flying 3-4 hours before sunset. After a hour into the hunt there were groups of 75-100 birds in 40-50 groups that were dive bombing our area. Seen about 6-7 thousand near our part of the marsh period. Things are looking great for our second part of the split.

Scouting session for flounder turned out great as Capt. Hunter Harwell and Guide Brandon Currie found full limits in a one stop Shop! Reports were that flounder were on hard bottom tucked up close to the shore and were extremely thick! Message us on how to get in on some founder gigging!

The coastal opener was definetly one to remember! It was a emotional roller coaster! But when fronts hit you from all different angles you roll with it! Our groups ended up shooting full redhead limits with bonus bluebills and buffleheads! Although the pics don't show full redhead limits they did! I take full responsibility for not getting a whole group shot! Sunday Sunday morning we woke up with another front with 35-40 mph winds and rain on the way! Decided to call the morning trip and it was a great idea! Waves stacked up 3-4 ft on the entrances of the back lakes and the open bay, well wouldn't have been a good idea! About noon the winds died down , waves got flat and back out to scout! Monday Sat on a back lake pond where we had found some puddle ducks the day before and ended up with a gadwall, mottle duck and 8 redheads for our morning group! That evening Guide Brandon Currie, my 5yo Kaleb , my wife and I had a decent evening shoot. 5 redheads and 4 bufflehead heads! The high light of my Monday and season so far was my 5 yo dropping the hammer on his first duck! A bull wigeon came in sat and put his feet down in the spread and my 5 yo shot and he folded! But with all the high fiving we didn't see he was still very much alive! Well he hopped up and left in a hurry! Not 5 minutes later and after calling my 5yo down a lone redhead drake came in! He was dropping in and my son dropped the hammer and killed his first duck! It was definitely a proud dad moment! We made sure he was feet up the time before the celebration started! And last but not least the last duck to hit the spread was a bufflehead head hen. He beaded down and water swatted her . She still had a little movement in her but crippled for sure. We finished her off and called it a evening! Our puddle ducks are showing up slowly but surely! But our redheads are in the thousands right now!
