It's a damn good gun. I love mine. Extremely reliable and takes a lot of abuse. I've had to wash the mud out of mine with the waterhose several times now and it still works great and looks new hammer

It uses the same technology as the Browning Maxus which I love. The up side to the SX3 is you can get an extension tube for conservation hunts.

I think you'll enjoy your gift.

I have two: a 26" 3.5 black shadow and a 28" 3.5 MOSGB. The Black Shadow is fine. The MOSGB is a lemon is going to Arnold, MO after duck season. It won't cycle 3.5's and it won't accept any length shell once you have one in the chamber and one on the mag when the plug is in without a lot of trouble. Comparing the two, it appears the springs both the mag and recoil are weaker on the MOSGB and both were purchased in February of 2015.

The handle like a dream and carry well. The triggers are excellent. For a gas driven auto, they shoot clean. I think they are one of the best shooting shotguns for 3" magnum. I am over 50, 5'-7", 170 and in shape. I am done with 3.5" magnums in any shotgun. They hammer me.

My son and I really like these shotguns and we hope they can get the bugs out of the MOSGB model. He's 16, 6'-2", 190 LBS and a dual threat QB. He can take the pounding and prefers the 3.5. They do reach out there and touch things. He is using the full Kicks High Flyer ported choke and it is incredible. I am using the Full Carlson's Super Steel extended non ported choke and it's excellent as well. Both of us either miss or we put the duck down----very little margin of error, very tight pattern.

Keep on keeping on.

Great shotgun. They have a great finish on them and the black ones won't rust like the Rustnelli's. It's the softest shooting shotgun I've shot. I couldn't get the comb high enough to get the POI to match up with my POA, I bought an aftermarket comb riser and it worked but was a pain to keep on and adjusted properly. That was the only reason I sold the gun and went with a gun that fit me better.

I liked the shotgun a lot, it's unfortunate it couldn't get it to fit they way I needed.
