Changed my mind about a multi-barrel shotgun, decided on just a 20 gauge slug gun. I'm not a "shotgunner" so any & all comments are welcome. I'll get the 3" chamber 'just because' whatever ammo I end up using might be either 2-3/4 or 3".
What are your opinions/recommendations about what's the "best" slug gun and what's the "best" sabot ammo for deer?
My order of preference for type slug gun is 1st by far - Semiauto 2d - Lever (if anyone makes a lever action) 3d - Pump 4th - Bolt Very distant 5th - Break breech single shot
Absolutely required features are - Obviously a rifled barrel for sabot slugs - Drilled & tapped or Picatinny Rail for scope
Additionally, nice-to-have options are mounted sling swivels and a walnut or laminated wood stocks.

9x19mm--Anything bigger is statistically insignificant.

Savage makes a 20 gauge bolt gun that is nearly as accurate as a rifle. That's where I'd look.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Ithaca 37 if you can find one, they are the ultimate short of a bolt action in shooting slugs.

Savage 220 as was previously mentioned. I shoot 3" Federal Trophy Coppers on mine and it's a deadly combo out to 150 yds+. With the bolt slug gun you get the accutrigger which is light years ahead of any pump or semi auto. I used an 870 for 6 years and a Winchester 1300 for 9 years before that and am kicking myself for not getting the Savage when they were introduced. They are that much better for a DSG.
Looking at your list of "nice to haves" Boyds makes wood and laminate stocks for the 220.
"I have too many guns," said no one, ever.
