I added a 2.5" gate on my trailer. I noticed ZERO difference in towing. The ranger catches much more wind than the gate. I got tired of dragging out those heavy arse ramps that slide in and out of the rails on the side of my trailer.

whats the gate made of? 2.5 isn't bad and wouldn't expect it to do near as much.. most are about 3-4ft and expanded metal..

also depends what your towing with..

Texas Agriculture or Timber Registration. Issued by the Office of the Comptroller. Has to be renewed at certain intervals, mine is good through 12/31/2015.

When you receive your renewal notice call the 800 number listed and have your exemption number available. Takes maybe 3 minutes. up

Yup. Mines 4.5 foot tall and 6.5 wide, with expanded metal. It would kill my F-150, but now with it behind the Cummins it's not even a concern. It really shouldn't be much of a concern if you have ATV's or SxS on it as that's going to catch and re direct the wind.

2X2 11 gauge and expanded metal. All I wanted it for was to run the Ranger on the trailer. I can still use the ramps if I need to load a tractor. F-150

I agree with Bigpig and Jetdad. You have a lot more control when pulling. Double axle all the way. Had a Truck paas me a few weeks back running around 65 plus. He was pulling a single axle trailer probably 12 ft. with a side by side on it. Right after he passed me the trailer started to waggle really bad. Told my wife get ready he may loose that side by side. He was able to save it somehow. But I think he got the message to slow down and maybe his trailer was to small for his load.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Found a used tandem axle trailer on Craigslist that I like better than a new one I was looking at. The new one I was looking at was 14'. The seller had it made and fits exactly what I was looking for. It is 16' and cheaper than the new one. The front sides are removable and turn into ramps. This will allow me to load the 4wheeler on the front sideways and then the Polaris on the back. I'm going to paint the boards today and do a test fit.

Looks good up I'm curious as to how the front hold up with those ramps. I've always liked the idea but also been concerned they may get stuck when the trailer is loaded

Painted deck today. Waiting for it to dry. Should be able to try test for tomorrow. I'll have to see how the ramps fit under load.

My buddy has one similar, the tabs that hold the ramps have a bit of give to them to deal with any frame flex. He ended up cutting a bicycle inner tube and gluing it onto the tabs to keep the ramps from rattling when going down the road. Something to keep in mind if yours does the same.

I did hear them rattle but didn't put windows down to check. It might help that the ramps are held in by a pin. The seller used the holes to lock the ramps in. I have pins there now.
