Moved locations on my lease and I am covered up with coyotes. I have seen a pack of 6 and several times a pack of 3.

The question is a cheap call and a moving decoy. I said cheap, foxpros are NOT cheap. I am thinking some kind of speaker with a 50' lead hooked to my phone and a cheap moving decoy.

Suggestions, please?

just buy a $10 mouth call. it is not hard at all to learn a rabbit squeal, and it will work just fine. Many a coyote have been killed without a foxpro, and many more will be killed in the future.

Ok, thanks. I will try and get over to Academy tonight.

What about some type of decoy?

You don't need to buy a decoy either. Just put a feather on a 2-3 ft stick with a string so in wind can blow it around. Push into the ground so it's above the vegetation where the coyotes can see it. You your mouth call and hope for the best.

edit: an arrow shaft will work if you have one.

I've taken several in the past couple years with a downloaded predator calls app on my iPhone, works just fine and was free. Just another idea to think about.

Already did that, just thought a little speaker with a 50' lead would be better.

cheap decoy? Get one of those balls with a tail attached to it that people put in a bag to trick people with. Spray paint the ball and set that thing loose in front of your stand and start calling.

Thanks for responding to everyone. I am not nor have I ever been a varmint hunter. I have shot Bobcats and Coyotes over the years but it was right place right time.

I have never seen coyotes running in packs like this except at night. They can be a very real problem for my land owner and would like to take every one of them.

I THINK after I shoot a couple of them they will stop coming into this field/pasture during daylight hours.

Any and all advice is appreciated, I just don't want to spend a bunch of $$$.

I may take you up on that, however I have no plans of going there on a varmint specific hunt.

I agree, had call and stick with cotton balls or feather, but not necessary. They will know where you are as soon as you start calling, the feather idea gives you a diversion though.

If you want to make a call, I can show you if you'd like, takes about 10 minutes of you have the "stuff"

You will need a 3-4" piece of 1/2"-3/4" pvc pipe, no trespassing/for sale sign, or similar thickness material (just need a piece) and a rubber band. Tools needed hacksaw or any saw in a pinch. Made bunch of these, not fancy but each one has it's own sound and will be new to the yotes.
