This up coming Turkey day weekend appears to be a cold rainy mess about to happen.
So what changes and what do you do any different?

Try to stay dry. And wipe off my glasses, and scope, and binoculars a lot more.

Stay home. I don't hunt quail in the rain.

It depends on what you have to retreat to / recover at.

If you have the ability to get warm, dry, clean etc after the hunt, then go at it hard to the best that the situation allows.

Hunt the best you can, then get yourself situated when you are done.

I can (and have) pushed through a lot of crud when I know that I can get back to "normal" when I am done.

I sleep in and go to the blind later, about 10 or 11 and watch all afternoon and until dark.

That's a shame. Watching dogs work beats watching tv any raining, or artic panhandle winter day of the week. IMO

Bring extra munchies and water for an extended morning hunt.

Sit longer. On a dry day I'll sit from 9 to 4 or so. Rainy days I'll sit all day long, I've killed my best bucks during and just after a good rain.

Stormy weather days I don't bother going out until the last line gets past my area.

Hunt out of a pop up

I retreat to my box blind on rainy days, instead to stalking or using a tree stand...problem is the Trinity is still out of its banks at my place. The blind is dry, but my food plot and my entire field of view from the blind is still under about a foot of water, given today's river level. More rain tomorrow is not going to help.

Not much... I hunt the wind always, and funnels most of the time.

I rifle hunt instead of bow hunt

light mist, drizzle, I see the deer moving. Heavy rain forget it, they're going to park under cover until it lets up. since I started bow hunting out of tripod a few years ago, I'm not as gung-ho for sitting in the rain.

I stay in camp and drink.
