Continuing to hunt for Toby in Eastern Williamson county, he's still out there as we spotted him twice on Sunday but no shot was offered. Erected a box blind in the hog killing field before deer season and climbed in at 2 PM Friday afternoon. At 2:30 a coyote came loaping across the hay pasture and as it was early and I haven't fired my deer rifle this year so I decided I'd give it a check. The rifle has been in the family for forty years and I haven't adjusted the scope in the twenty years it's been in my possession. It's .270 Waetherby mag with a Leopold 6.5 X 12 I think is what it is. It was Pa in laws rifle and he had a trigger job done and had it magna ported. The barrel is very long.
The coyote made it almost to the tree line and only offered a Texas heart shot at what we later ranged to 280 yards. The scope is still on as the coyote collapsed DRT. Wasn't long and buzzards were on him.
Fortunately, my hunting bud got a late start and came by to move the yote at 4 PM.
