No room for dog. Remote place your dog. Send them for the mark then back to the blind on dry ground.

No room for dog. Remote place your dog. Send them for the mark then back to the blind on dry ground. Won't be happening with my current lab but my next one coming in January I plan on putting a lot of effort into and getting involved in the hunt test game.

I haven't had the opportunity to hunt much standing in water or in this case sitting.
I have a good set of waders but was wondering how cold it would get sitting in water when it's 20 degrees.

COLD water (January water) will suck the heat right out of ya! Coldest I've been was layout shooting in Idaho a couple years ago. 4 degrees air temperature, heavy fog, ice chunks bouncing off the layout boat and a strong, ice cold river current running under the boat taking all the heat from my body. Four heavy base layer shirts, fleece, wool sweater and 5mm neoprenes and I could still feel my blood freezing solid

I have a good set of waders but was wondering how cold it would get sitting in water when it's 20 degrees. 20 degrees and no wind? If dressed appropriately (appropriate for me being multiple layers up top and 5 mil neo waders with 1600 gram thinsulate insulated boots, shorts, fleece sweatpants/pajama bottoms, 3 pair of Cabelas wool socks), you'll be much more comfortable in the water than out of it. Particularly if the cold is due to an early season cold front. If you have some tolerance for cold, you'll be gtg even if your waders leak or you get flooded. If you have a problem dealing with being even slightly cold, use heaters in your boots, gloves, and under your head covering (my preference is a camo balaclava). Or stay home. Wind is a game changer in cold weather as is wet hands and feet. A dry suit base layer under your waders, neo diving gloves, with head cover and layers up top will keep you comfortable in single digit sub 0 temps. Keep in mind some folks tolerate cold better than others. If you've had a great hunt in the cold, and stayed out until you lost the use of your hands, and couldnt speak properly cause your face and lips were frozen, you'll know what I'm talking about. IMHO, the benchmark for a "good" set of cold weather hunting waders would be the Supermag 1600.

Muskrat Hut? Proof that anyone can get rich off a b@tsh1t crazy idea if they're good salesman.
The inventor has to be gay. When I hear the words "muskrat hut", I'm reminded of a 1970's song that sucked as bad as [censored] boys muskrat hut. The embarrassment I'd feel if some dude rolled up in one would be unbearable. I can just imagine, guys lined up on their favorite duck hole, all blowing their muskrat huts, getting it puffy so they can use it. And that cheesy 1970's song, "Muskrat Love, playing in the background. JFC, you may as well have a sign on the back of it that say's "Hi, I'm a h0m0"
If you're [censored] or gay, yea, whatever floats your boat. I'll take my yak out before I'd use any inflatable. I don't have to blow it to use it.
I'm now ashamed to be a duck hunter.

I have a pretty good tolerance to cold.
My waders are Rogers 5mm 1600 thinsulate.
Not sure what is "gay" about a float tube. I enjoy fishing sometimes out of a tube. Apparently waterfowl hunting from a float tube has been around since the 70s so it's not really a new gimmick.

If I'm not mistaken, I think floating tubes have been around a lot longer than the 1970's. The navy calls them submarines.. Yea, go get you one of them muskrat love huts. You'll get to see a lot of floating tube. Only tube a real man needs is the one he's born with.

Wow, so much hate for a float tube. I don't care what it looks like. If it helps puts more birds feet up, I say go for it. And as far as staying warm, I think you'll be fine. I've stood in crotch-deep on some wintery Minnesota days and as long as you have a couple pair of good socks and Underarmor, you'll be good to go
Cigarettes are like hamsters. Perfectly harmless til you put it in your mouth & light it on fire

I have this setup it works well , duck hunting requires lots of toys for hunting different ways and setups. I don't know how far you are from Belton Texas. I have the camo float top and grassed used maybe 6 times. Sell for real cheap if interested.

It does work well just don't really hunt with it , almost every time I am in a layout blind. Don't care if it stays or don't , just sits in my garage. Ain't selling it up , just saying it does work and he can save a lot by buying a slightly used. Other than that I couldn't give a **** . Trying to help someone not desperate for money Fooshman

I think it would be alright to hunt out of, I fish in a float tube quite often and the only thing I can think of is how much of a PIA it would be to paddle that thing around. I think its hard enough to paddle any distance with fishing gear in a tshirt in open water let alone trying to tow decoys, keep gun and shells relatively dry, and paddling through weeds and stumps with a man made hang up all around me. I think about the only application would be get it to where you are hunting by some other means, and then float it as just a blind.

I think about the only application would be get it to where you are hunting by some other means, and then float it as just a blind. We hunt a big open shallow soil conservation lake. It has very little cover and the south side is hard to access with no dry ground to hunt on in layouts. It has a long winding creek on the tail end with some really cool places to hunt but the majority of the ducks like to be out in the middle. With a north wind we have a decent high spot on the north side with open water we can hunt. With a south wind you either just have to have them come over head or hunt up into the creek and wade across. With this muskrat hunt it give us a lot more options.
