I've got about 5 1/2 hours till my shift is over. Go home, grab a couple hours of sleep, slap my wife on the bottom, get a good luck kiss and then I'm off to NM for my muledeer hunt. Hunting in Unit 30.

Just got back. Saw lots of forkies, a couple of nice ones that we couldn't get a shot at and a bunch of elk. First two days were great, after that, three days of winds gusting up to 70 mph and a little bit of snow at night. Came back empty handed but I was in the mountains.

Yes sir, those winds in the mountains can get atrocious. I had a buddy loose their camp one year, one guy had a tree fall on him and broke his leg (at night while they where asleep), S&R told them there had been 100+mph winds overnight, thats tornado stuff right there!

A few of us were in the Lewis & Clark forest in Montana for 2 weeks (1st - 14th) near White Sulphur Springs. Snowed second day there and 3 or 4 more times. We had 6-8 inches of snow the entire time. Temps were 14-27 most of the time. Tents collapsed a couple of times from the snow. 3 of us got our mule deer bucks, 1 got a white tail 5th guy missed out. Racks weren't great but big bodies on em. Never got on any elk though and that was the dream. Oh well, there's always next year. Being there and seeing the beauty of the mountains made it a great hunt.
