We got on a new place to hunt this year. Have had some bucks on camera, but nothing during daylight yet.
Last weekend my daughter took this big doe right before sunset. She and I hadn't deer hunted together in probably 5 years. It was a blast and she made a perfect shot at 65 yards. The doe ran about 10 yards and piled up right in the middle of the food plot. It's a true blessing to spend time with her in the blind...the fact that she got a deer was just icing on the cake!
Then last night my son and I sat in the same blind. He hunts with me a lot and was hoping that one of the bucks that we have on camera would come out. Right at sunset again, this nice doe came out into the food plot. He spotted her before I did. He decided he wanted to take her. She was directly down wind from us at about 80 yards, but we had Ozonics going and she never picked us off. She was facing in our direction for 5 straight minutes and wouldn't turn broadside. We decided to go ahead and take a chest shot. Hudson aimed right at the heart/lungs and squeezed off the trigger. Right as he did, she dropped her head to feed. So, he wound up hitting her in the neck and dropped her in her tracks. He did 90% of the skinning, quartering and deboning himself and we now have the meat on ice in a cooler.
2 does within 7 days! God has blessed me with some awesome kids and I had an absolute blast hunting with them. I enjoyed it much more than any trophy buck I could have shot without them. Sorry the pics are a little grainy. They were both taken in the last few minutes of daylight.
