We are seeing good numbers of redheads , pintails and gadwalls. With this front coming in we can't wait to see what's coming with it

Creek2Creek,
Are you seeing any Snipe yet? I figure they are of the same problem. No need to migrate this far until it freezes the ground up north, and ones that made it here so far spread out with all the places everywhere just like in your video.

No, I haven't seen any. Did not notice that until you asked... It's only going to get better!

The birds are here just using different habitat than we are used to the past few years. This time of year in years past we are usually hunting mud banks and birds are searching out food on large reservoirs. This year there is an abundance of food and birds are not using the same spots they were last year and the previous 4 years. You have to get out and find them, they are here in bigger numbers than I have ever seen this early.

You make a youtube "Ducks are in NTX", with no ducks in the video? I was waiting on a big group to jump up or something..

Uhh did you not notice them get up right at the edge of the trees???

No, I did not see them, and the dog did not see them either from what I could see.

Those birds were about 300 yards away from us. He sees them all morning like this. He knows better than to chase after them! wink

rofl Kinda what I was just saying to myself...it's not even 2nd split and we're talking about bird numbers. Christmas until the end of the season it what it's all about...anything you kill right now are bonus birds IMO.

If your watching the video on your phone its hard to see, but you can easily see the birds and all the wing flashes against the tree line. There was every bit of 500+ birds.

Why did you expect to see more birds? If you scouted the day before and saw birds, and the next day you go to hunt it and no birds, your comments makes sense, otherwise it doesn't. If you expected more birds because previous seasons you had birds, cant expect that, every season is different, private water and public. I'm glad it is that way, it would be boring if it was so predictable. All this water is good and bad, good in the sense there are many places to hunt, and get away from barney, bad in the sense that birds have many places to go, and harder and more challenging to find. I like the later myself.

Well Guy, there you again using logic on the THF, this is not the place for that, you know better.

Saw about a hundred Sunday. Wednesday not even a quarter of that.

I agree, why is the season even open in november anyway?

Drove around Williamson and Bell county yesterday and found 2 coots. And no, I'm not talking about Deckhand and Sallysue.

Not a single duck on any stock tank to be seen.

They have just started getting here in good numbers in Montague and Clay counties. Birds everywhere right now. Time to get after them.

Mass exit of birds with this front, and no migration yet to replace them. Did see large groups of migratory birds flying high Saturday as the front blew in. Awesome site to see.

The pintails are for sure gone. Seen more mallards sunday than I did all season, but not entirely enough to replace the sprigs. Gadwall and teal are still plentiful.

Seeing more and more snows and specs though.

Apparently I've got enough wood ducks to keep me busy until Sunday, lol. I've never seen so many wood ducks, they are everywhere.
