Heading out right after lunch today to hunt at my lease in Palo Pinto county. My daughter shot a doe last weekend, but I haven't seen any rut activity yet. We have got to be close! Hoping today will be the day!

Just got settled into the Double Bull blind. Decided to use Ozonics since I don't have a perfect wind. Got my rattling antlers and grunt tube. Ready for action!

Been here about 1-1/2 hours so far. Did one rattling sequence. No response. Woods are quiet and the sun is out. Have a feeling it'll be later in the evening before I see anything. Either way, I'm here!

You should see something about 30 minutes before it gets dark.. maybe a hour. Been a lot of movement everywhere. good luck

Hunting in magnolia would be better in a gated community.

3 hours into the hunt. 3 hours left till dark. I'm hunting over a food plot (wheat) as well a feeder. Feeder goes off at 4:30.

Just heard a rifle shot from the neighboring property. Hopefully he missed and is scaring them my way.

Good luck and keep us posted.

If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

Feeder has gone off now. Three calves came through about 20 yards off to my right a few minutes ago but thankfully moved on pretty quick. Sun is starting to drop so it's starting to feel "deery" now.

Well, I guess tonight wasn't the night. Didn't see a single deer. Going to bring my son back on Saturday and go to another blind that has been a little bit better. Hopefully that will work out better than tonight. It's always good to be out in God's great outdoors though

Well, that was anti-climactic.

Where abouts in PP county is your lease?

I beg to differ. I'd rather get skunked at the lease than being in the office today. smile

I dropped off a doe this evening I shot last Friday at cinnamon creek and saw a doe out by the front gate. Figured it would be good this evening. Guess you'll have better luck with your boy on sat! Good luck!
