Any other brands to look at? Mainly would be used out of. Pop up and occasional stalking

User friendly for the "new" shooter

I use a home-made lightweight bi-pod shooting sticks now when I am walking/stalking/still hunting. I used to use the tripod but found them hard to use in CRP in Kansas. Bipod tall sticks work the best. It just bought a Primos Trigger Stick Mono-Pod that I may use in Kansas. I like the fact that I can adjust to fit from kneeling to standing. I have a Caldwell DeadShot Field pod that I use in my popup or homemade ground blinds. I use it both for Crossbow and muzzleloader/rifle hunting. It works really well when sitting. Very stable rest.

The more points of support the further you can take a steady shot.

I like the Primos mono. I use mine as a hiking stick (I'm a bit more wobbly than I used to be) and I have a shooting support ready. It has a good collapsible shaft which I also use to adjust the outside rear view mirror on my Ranger.

I love multi-purpose gadgets.

I like the Primos Triggersticks tripod. As noted, 3 legs make things more steady. Plus, you can unscrew the yoke, screw on a little adapter (about $3 from Amazon) and using the tripod as a camera tripod. The downside is that tripods are heavier and more bulky.

I would not buy a triggerstick bipod, however. The tall grip over the legs tends to let the head tilt over unexpectedly (at the hinge with the legs) if you are running your rifle and not running the bipod.

I use the Primos Triggerstick Tripod. They are a bit heavier and bulkier, but managable. Love the versatility.

I do have a couple of Caldwell DeadShot Field Pods that I use in blinds or ground blinds. I found them to be a bit short, so I lengthened the legs with PVC. They work great for long sits.

I have both the Bog Pod and Primos Trigger Stick mono pod and have used both for several years. Both are excellent, however the Bog Pod is much heavier and bulkier to carry around, although most of my hunting is from a stand or blind. I am a rifle hunter as well as a handgun hunter. I took a bull elk at 320 yards 2 years ago with a 270 and the Trigger stick. I took 2 nice bucks last year with my handgun at 100 yards with the Trigger Stick. I prefer the trigger stick monopod as it is lighter, very easy to use and I really don't see the need for more than 1 leg. I also use it in Colorado as a walking stick when I am hunting there.

I have the BogPod tripod with the wide-body shooting rest attachment. I used it earlier this year to take my Pronghorn at 240 yards. I will say the tripod is not the quickest thing to set up, but once you get it, it is very steady, and it will stand by itself. With the wide-body you can balance your rifle on top of it and have your hands free to rattle, use your binos, etc.

Trigger Stick, very quick setup and very stable.

I've been looking at these two. I was thinking about buying the wide bog gear rest and using it with the trigger stick. Maybe have the better rest and the quick adjustment

I never used one before, but this year I borrowed a Bog Pod for a stalk on a nice pronghorn. It had the cradle attachment(which I tried to use backwards at first! LOL). Standing up, with the BP fully extended, I made a 330 yd shot right on like a bench rest. I'm now a believer. I could never have made that shot without the Bog Pod, range finder & Leupold 6.5-20x scope on my .270. Whatever you get, I believe the cradle attachment (or whatever it's called) is a must have for a long range shot.

I've used the primos triggerstick monopod for a few years. I love the way they adjust so quickly and lock solidly. This last summer I've purchased their Shockley tripod and wouldn't use anything else on any given day. My friend DeereGuy showed me you can use some straps made for holding your guns on a quad to hold our gun on the tripod and leaves you hands free to scan and the gun is readily available to shoot when you see something.

IMO, something to use when stalking would justify one of the more expensive models that carries a quick adjustment-type design. I've been using an inexpensive one in my ground blind and found it works fine when you know you'll be shooting from the same chair at the same height each time.

If this is for deer and shots over 100, I would opt out of the mono for a new shooter.

Primos Trigger stick bipod here. I find the mini is too wobbly, the tripod is very steady but can be a pain to get set in a hurry, and the bipod is just right. It doubles as a walking stick and a poker/brush clearer. I have used the bipod a few times as a rear rest while the front was resting on the stand window or on a tree branch and it worked great.

Good post; I'm kicking the idea of getting one for my 44mag Ruger Super Redhawk when I'm pistol hunting. I can prop my pistol in my tripod but in my Double Bull blind one would sure come in handy.

If it's mostly for use in a popup. The Caldwell deadshot fieldpod is the way to go IMO.

Well I ended up borrowing some older Stoney point tripod from a friend. I wasn't to big on them, so I went to academy and was digging the trigger stick bipod. The wif saw those and said dang they are pricey. I explained how they worked and said it would be the best choice for her. She said that she would try to use the loaners. Long story short , we didn't buy the trigger stick and when all 3 of us got into the pop up we couldn't deploy the tripod loaners. The wif didn't get to hunt because she didn't have a rest. I ended up free handing a doe in the face at about 75 yards. I think I'm still going to get the trigger stick

I have the mono trigger stick and like it. I will also be getting the Magnum Fieldpod at some point too. The regular Fieldpod is too short IMO.

i just got the easton velocity monopod, got it off camofire for 18 bucks. it's not as fast to adjust as a primos trigger stick but I think it has a wider range of adjustment. I should be able to use it sitting on the ground, on a chair, or standing up. Most of my shots will be 100-200 yds. And it's light and easy to pack/strap on my bag.
