Spent the last week out chasing Whitetails and this is all I came up with.
Saw lots of deer and even a few pretty good ones but not the one I was after.
About 5:30PM yesterday afternoon my deer started looking to the south west so I figured some cows were coming since I had seen them every single hunt for the last week. I was surprised when I saw this Yote come bouncing through the cactus and Cedars but didn't think I had a prayer of getting a shot off before he would be gone. I tried anyway and leveled the cross hairs in about a 1' square opening between a Cedar and Mesquite and told myself when I see a shoulder I am going to touch off a round from the 6.8. About the time I clicked off the safety I saw him and sent a Accubond his way. I just about busted out laughing when he folded in his tracks because all the odds were stacked against me ever getting a shot off much less hitting him. Total elapsed time from when I first saw him till when I was able to grab the rifle and find a shooting lane and touch off a round was maybe 6 seconds. After the shot the casing started bouncing around in the stand like a ping pong ball and to my surprise all of my deer were still standing around wondering what the heck just happened and then they went back to feeding so I had to wait till dark to go retrieve him.
Really didn't want to touch him but I knew I couldn't leave him there where I hunt so I snapped a few pics and got rid of him elsewhere.
