I know that you deer hunters sit in a blind alone, but how many of you go hunting alone? I hunted quail alone at times over the years but no longer do. How about you?

Since no one I know bird hunts, I'll be hunting alone. I like to duck hunt also and finding a guide that will ask a group to let an outsider in is tough.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I prefer to hunt alone, will go out with groups here when asked to but prefer to hunt by myself when I can.

going solo means you got no one to blame for any flubs and foopahs, you can do it your way with no criticism.

Bill, I've hunted squirrel alone, but it just wasn't any fun. If I've got to go alone, I'd just as soon stay at home.Ive never been much of a deer hunter. Sitting in a blind ain't my style. I can't explain it, but sitting in a field for dove or on a log for squirrel never bothered me, but sitting in an enclosed box was too darn boring.

I enjoy my alone time in a blind but I like to know someone else is on the lease and knows where I am. When I get my big blind standing I will enjoy sitting in my big blind with a friend. Or a dog.

Add nasty cold wet weather and sitting in a nice warm blind gets even better. And naps, oh yeah. They are real nice.

I sometimes dove hunt alone & it doesn't bother me a bit. I too found sitting in a blind boring, yet another reason i don't deer hunt anymore, with cost being the main reason

I work weekends and my family that I hunt with me does not. I spend most of my time at the lease by myself. It gets a little lonely sometimes and other times it is ok. That is fixing to change on 11-30-2015 since the weekend shift I supervise is being consolidated to weekday and nights and I will have weekends off again. I am sure going to miss those 4 days off every week.

I don't hunt from a blind much. I've walked many a mile and hunted on the ground many days all by myself. As a teen I couldn't sit in one place long. Later I learned to bring a book along. I can stay out for hours if I have a book, water, and some snacks.

I enjoy the group and the talk over breakfast after the hunt, but don't have much opportunity for that anymore.

I considered a lease earlier this year, but one of the restrictions was that I couldn't bring anyone with me. I don't want to be out on one far away from home and alone where no one knows where I'm at.

Trying to find that sweet spot (affordable lease, closer to home, allows someone else) isn't easy. Until then, I'm just sticking to reliable day lease options.

Little opportunity to dove hunt, which was my hunting thing but did about 95% of the night fishing for catfish/white bass/crappie with just my dog(s). Have perty much been a loner since my late teens and just seemed to prefer it that way.

Almost went duck hunting alone this morning. Slept in instead. I've done it and will plenty more but prefer to be with my boys or amigo.

Prefer to actually hunt alone. I think independence breeds a stronger person, knowing you and only you can do it.
Campsite get togethers are a different story, make it a party. Joke telling, BS, men with same ideals, etc. I recall one night Stub, Erathkid, and myself solved all the worlds problems in one night.

I don't have a problem going to the lease by myself but these days sitting in a stand with my grandson is what I enjoy the most. I thank the good lord for every second that we spend together and know that I'm blessed to be able to do so.
Since I've gotten older (pushing 61) my family thinks I'm feeble or something and they don't like for me to go to the lease by myself.

I haven't killed a deer since 95 except to put one down that is injured and in stress. If the wife or one of the grands can't go I don't go. My walking is limited the last few years so I'm confined to a box blind. frown confused2

I hunt alone most of the time when hunting for whitetails. The only time I hunt with someone is when I hunt for MD in West Texas. I have hunted a few times out there by myself. I will hunt anyway or method that I need to get see deer.

I always go hunting with my son and usually one of the grandkids. He heads to one blind and I keep the grandkid with me.

I like to deer hunt alone but enjoy hanging out at the end of the day cooking dinner and sitting around a fire. I hate dove hunting alone. Apparently I don't have any friends. I usually deer hunt with my nephews and my wife will go sit with me on dove hunts. She won't shoot but sometimes she'll bird dog for me if it's not too hot.
I'm the same way about fishing. About half the time I enjoy having someone on the boat but other times I wish someone would launch me then meet me back at the ramp at the end of the day.

My lease partner had family in town this weekend, so went duck hunting by myself yesterday for the first time. I was excited for it, except for the drive out there by myself. But, since I'm not seeing any migration and all of the birds are local, I didn't even take a shot, so the blind was a little lonely.

I think I would have enjoyed it had I had some targets. I also enjoy hunting with people.

Bird dogs help. Here's a excerpt from a log I kept during am 91/92 season.
