Well, didn't get to make the opener so me and my pops went out this weekend. The first evening was as bad as it gets. I have been on the lease for 3 years and always, see at least 1 deer, usually about 4-5 does is the norm. But we always see deer. We both saw nothing other than a group of 7 raccoons emptying my feeder and 20+ javelina eating the corn at the other. The next two days were more of the same. Oil field traffic has moved in to within 300 yds of my most reliable feeder. About to start fracking so that spot is gonna be completely unreliable till it's all done. I am glad those guys have work and I have some good friends in the oil drilling business but man it sure does ruin a hunt. Oh well, I have been dealing with it for 3 yrs now and those boys livelihood is more important than me shooting a deer and I have other options so I won't complain any more. We did find a spike that had got his head stuck in my hog panels. He completely ripped the panels open so thats how the javelina were getting in. He had been there for a few weeks so it was smelling good. Got him disposed of and feeders all refilled. Check game cams once I got home and here is what we missed. We were hunting all of the days shown, just at the wrong place apparently. That's why they call it hunting, no guarantees.
The last one is my drop tine friend. He is at the top of the list. Doesn't he know I can't shoot him at 2:55 in the morning.
