Everytime I shoot a deer my bullet whispers back to me "bring your knife!"

I guess I'm "that guy". I will gladly pay the processor 25 dollars. I'm actually intrigued about more and more people quartering and not gutting.

I like to gut any animal I take asap, deer, fish, rabbit etc. This is why I would prefer a processor who gives you your own deer back because I don't know how that deer was handled before getting to the butcher. So I just process my own. I don't care or pass judgment on those who don't. I am surprised that so many people said they don't though.

I'm 68 and when growing up I learned to gut a deer when barely a teen and it was a right of passage as a born Texan to know how to gut your kill.
All the talk about not gutting a deer just proves how citified and soft so called hunters have become.
But then that was before high fences outnumbered low fence ranches, and lease prices rose to the level that people can afford to pay someone to gut their deer!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I gutted my first deer at 13 and always did it where they fell. Watched my dad and learned how and can gut one in 5-10 minutes. Processors should charge 100 bucks but the so called hunters would still pay it. peep

You hit the nail on the head. Too many born on pavement and guts make them quizzy. Nothing like the smell of a gut shot deer in the morning.

I've always gutted them in the field. Last night was the first time I've ever had to do it by myself. It's a little tougher without a partner to help hold the legs up so you can cut. I'm 26 BTW. Wussification doesn't happen in our family.

Quit gutting in the field a few years ago, I now let them stay in the chest cavity while I quarter. Then the whole thing just gets dropped in the gut bucket. I still get my tenderloins out.

I always gut my deer. My grandfather taught me how to do it about 35 years ago. Now when I am gutting a deer it reminds e of him and those fun times. So actually kind of look forward to it and can remember some fun times by doing it. However to each there own if they pay someone to or not. No biggie either way really to me.I remember that same grandfather many times on cold or rainy nights saying he wished he had someone to do it for him lol

It comes in handy when you are in a hurry because its 80 during early bow season. I gutted two last night, but will gladly step aside if someone wants to gut my deer.

The reason to debone the deer when NOT at final destination is because we have a house and refrigerator on our lease. After the deer is quartered it goes in the bottom of refrigerator. There are times I would like to go ahead and debone completely so I can drop off at the processor opposed to taking home and then deboning. Just a convenience for me.
I fail to understand how you can use the WRD in this case. Enlighten me.
Thanks
