I have owned my place in Red River county for 12 years now. In all that time, I've never seen a hard rut. I have seen a few sparring matches between bucks and I watched a spike a forky throw down big time for almost twenty minutes last year. But, I have never seen much in the way of bucks pushing or chasing does. I've also never had a deer respond to rattling or deer calls.
I have rattled bucks up in Wise and Archer counties before, but never in Red River. Has anyone had any success rattling and calling in NE Texas? If so, do you know if it is any different from doing it anywhere else?
Thanks!!
Matt

The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now.
Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!

There is a lady behind every tree so the bucks don't need to do any fighting.

I hunt RR County as well. I've never rattled a deer in but I see bucks pushing does regularly during the rut. What part of the county are you in?
