I recently bought a Savage Model 10FCP-SR in 308. I don't particularly care for the thread cover and want to throw something on the end the barrel that looks halfway decent. No plans to use a suppressor at the present time and no need for an actual muzzle brake. Two potential options are the Midwest Industries blast diverter and Troy Claymore. Both only have ports in the end of device only so they shouldn't knock the guy sitting next to me at the rifle range off his stool. This is purely a cosmetic issue but that thread cover nut is butt ugly. Any thoughts will be much appreciated.
I go to Bone Daddy's for the burgers....yeah, that's why.

I put a lenear style brake from accuracy systems on my Grendel well priced and it added a nice touch to the barrel.

So this dragons head linear compensator do NOT bother your neighbor shooting next to you? I have the same annoyance and since I really hate people with really annoying muzzle brakes, then I never want to be that guy.

It isn't a suppressor by any stretch but there is night and day difference between a muzzle brake and a linear compensator.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

Yes, the muzzle brake is much more effective than the linear compensator at reducing recoil, and is also a good deal noisier.
It's one of those "No Free Lunch" deals that we run across, from time to time.
Kind regards, charlesb

i may have miswrote the intnent of my question.
I also bought a threaded barrel for my 308 and don't have any plans to get a can soon. I hate my thread protector and thought a muzzle brake would be a good alternative. I have not need to reduce recoil because I literally have a 13-14lb rifle and I have no expectations of sound suppression. Just something to put on the end that is semi permanent that looks alright. However I don't wanna throw a bunch of exhaust gases and sound towards my neighbor while at the range.
Does this linear compensator do all that?
