No "monster", but my biggest whitetail so far. 'Friend scored gross around 133". (This is the first time to refer to a deer's "score" in my life. All the new-fangled measurement stuff is still foreign to me.) Roughly 120 yards with the rubber "canoe paddle" Ruger in .280 Rem. I had "buck fever" for the first time in probably 35 years. 'Shot clean over his back the first time. 5 minutes later he came out of the brush with the "What the hell was that?" look. I calmed the hell down and focused on the trigger, that seemed to take an eon to release. (Note to self: Finally have a rifle with some trigger work done.) I thought he was a 10, but he's 9. However, the "acorn"-type point made up for my disappointment. Even though I hit both shoulders (he was quartering toward me), there was no blood that I could find for 40+ yards. Prayers answered when I saw the blood, looked to the right, and there he was.
