Hey everyone, my name is Kevin. I grew up in California and recently moved out to Dallas to get my Masters degree in prosthetics. I grew up spearfishing and would now like to learn to hunt on dry ground. I have been for boar a few times back home with no luck, and have seen bucks but always out of season (all on my friend's private land). I shoot a Savage .30-06 and an H&R 12g. I understand that today is opening deer season, so I'm not expecting to be taken on a buck hunt, but I am looking for someone to possibly show me the ropes in pig or duck hunting and fill up the freezer. Thank you in advanced for the help!

Thank you for the warm welcome, guys. Colt, I will repost this in the Guided section, thank you for the recommendation. Looks like I'm gonna be grabbing my boots from back home and try to pick up some waders!

Welcome to !! get on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website and read up on public hunting opportunities. There are lots of tracts around the state that are open to the public. I believe there is a $40 permit required.

Again, thank you for the welcome! I like it here quite a bit so far! Thank you for the recommendation on the hunter safety course. I have already completed it in Ca, though.
