Had perfect weather for the opener this year, lots of acorns on the ground had the deer sticking mostly in the woods and away from the feeder. Seen what looked like a little pre rut activity going on with a few young bucks showing some interest in a few does. Did anybody else witness any similar behavior?

We did in Wise. Our deer are staying away from the feeders. Saw one buck look like he was walking a scrape line. We had the Game Wardens in camp Saturday afternoon. They said they had checked 5 other camps that morning and no one had shot a buck.

I left Jack county a little confused. Sat morning had a small buck and 2 larger bucks hot on does. I was convinced it was in full swing. Then Sat evening had 5 does come to the feeder and stay for half an hour or so and no bucks in sight checking on them. I guess it's still little early.

Saw a large buck I'd never seen before late yesterday. Barely got to look at him as he crossed an opening, looked around, then put his nose to the ground to keep going.
Looked like he was interested in something.

Had 4 does come to the feeder today, then a nice buck came in right at dark and ran the does off, he didn't seem interested at all but I saw him making a scrape through the brush before he came in. It's started, should be in full swing by this weekend. In Jack Co. The biologists say the peak of the rut is ALWAYS right around the 15th, from back dating fetuses. Good cool weather with a dark moon and you'll see it during daylight hours. Hot weather with a full moon and it will happen mostly at night, but it will happen. Good luck and hunt every chance you get!!!
