For whatever reason our surveys and trail cams have been coming up all but empty lately, it was reassuring to hit the stand this weekend and find out deer still existed on our property! Range conditions are great, so they aren't hitting corn hard, but still seem to have some interest in it. Great weekend hunting with my old man, but muy grande never stepped out.

A short tined 8pt and a buck I call dagger

Had to tell, but this deer is an 11pt, He already broke one off though, at 2.5-3.5 should be fun to watch for a few years.

2.5 Yo crab claw 8 I saw opening morning.

Young bucks! let'em go, to tease your other hunters with you! future stock
in my book! what about culls or deformed spikes or trash deer!

that should be main interest!,,,,, better yet, wait til rut is in full session......

Just started here at the lake this past weekend.... the ole 9pt from Sept is not around.....

maybe he's taking a Blue Bell break!

hunt safe....

Nice pics. It was slow here also, only saw one mature buck at daylight opening morning. He was gone after a doe before good light. Movement has been nothing but young bucks and does. Does leave after the bucks start to chase the around. Not much activity at all on TC at night right now after all the rains and oats growing like gang busters.

Our oats are coming up, but I think we had some loss on them because they sprouted then it got dry and hot again and then the deluge came a week or three later. Our TC's have been an absolute bust this year. I saw a 4 pt chase a doe like crazy and then like a light switch was flipped he stopped and at right next to her with no interest. Other than that we didn't see anything resembling rut. Bucks are still in bunches.
