Not to be nosy, but what happened to BMD's reports? He was a great source of info. Hope he's doin alright.

As for me, I'm wimping out this weekend due to the forecasted windchills for tomorrow.

I don't know if I count for this thread but the past 3 years me and my brother and my dad are fortunate enough to do a father son hunt thanks to my uncle who has access to 5k acres outside of guthrie. Anyways, the panhandle is my favorite place to hunt by far and I enjoy reading your post about what's going on up there. We are going the week before Christmas and with all the rain I am expecting a good and healthy deer herd. Pitchfork part of the property we hunt borders this ranch and the 6666s. Where are you located? I know that the
races expand through several counties but one day I'd like to put a face with a name.

We have a couple of 5.5yr + old on camera, and some in the 2.5 to 4.5 range. Hunted this last weekend, and saw a little activity. All mature deer only at night so far. Going to hit it hard this Thurs threw Sunday. We are near Shamrock.

Been pretty quiet up here in Wheeler county...until tonight. Had two mature bucks chasing does HARD. I think I could have started playing a tuba and they wouldn't have looked up. After it got to dark to see anything other than body size it looked like three does come out with two bucks in tow. Things are heating up!

Let's see those pics? I cut the tip off my thumb with a razor at camp so had to head home to TN.

Sorry to hear about the thumb. I took a pretty good cut myself field dressing my daughters deer. That outdoor edge with the replaceable blades is one sharp sucker. My daughters first buck from Collingsworth County. Get well and back in the woods!

Saw a few young bucks interested up in Dickens County over Thanksgiving but the girls were not interested. Still making scrapes and not a lot of fighting. I think things got pushed up a little because of the weather etc. Going up Saturday for a few days and check it out. Any opinions ?

Arrived in Collingsworth County today. This evening was slow only seeing a handful of doe. Most all bucks have disappeared from cameras. We haven't seen much rut activity since prior to Thanksgiving. Seems that our rut peaked around Nov 15-20. Not crazy about this warm weather but figure I can't shoot one from my living room so I'll make the best of it.

I think your right Lotto, we are having a trickle rut this year from what I've seen.

When I was filling one of my feeders when I arrived last Friday I noticed a fresh scrape and freshened it up with some Tinks. I saw this buck late Saturday evening but wanted to get a better look at him and he was walking off and it was getting dark. He was back the next morning waiting for the doe that marked his scrape. I'd been watching this one on and off for the last few years:

Nice deer, I agree have not seen a definite hardcore rut. I have seen a buck chase a doe, then turn around and run them off corn so he could hog it. Most years they just run the does all around the feeders while they try and grab a bite on the run.
