how many of you guys spend $1,000's of dollars on your hunting each year with paying for the land, fuel , maintenance , corn, feeders and so on and go out opening morning to a feeder that isn't working? This happened to me during bow season and it wasn't my thrower, in fact the funnel inside the barrel shifted preventing corn from hitting the plate. I ended up fixing it by taking the dispenser off and cutting a hole in the funnel. Had other times when a battery somehow got disconnected and or timers being off mysteriously. Since we switched to CCC feeders we have never had a problem with the throwers. SO I ask, What frustrates you the most ?

When the batteries go dead on the feeder the day after I leave for two weeks. This was before I bought the 12v solar panels. Same with game cams. Wasps chasing me out of the blind opening morning was another ritual I don't miss. Or how about get to the blind and find out the cattle have knocked it over and ate all the corn. They were frustrated because the batteries had died two weeks ago. The list goes on and on.
coffee spelled backwards is eeffoc. I don't give eeffoc until I have my morning coffee.

Went out opening weekend of bow season and one of our rifle stands feeder battery was dead replaced it, tested it and all was well. Came back 2 weeks later and the battery was low, and the bearings on the motor had gone out the plate wobbled badly and didn't throw much corn. Had a spare swapped it out and back up and running again... its one of my favorite stands to sit, I sure hope its still working!!!!!!!!!!!
It's hell eatin em live

Found my go-to spot like this 2 weekends ago. Cams showed a juvenile cow jumped the fence, got spooked cause he couldnt get out and completely trashed both feeders. Almost made me vomit when I drove up on it.

Ha, nothing more disheartening than ready to hunt and find out your feeder not.
I try to minimize headaches keeping everything new, quality equipment, and the best batteries. I always check everything over 2-3 weeks ahead to minimize opening day heartbreak. It is also nice having internet cameras as you can tell if corn isn't being put down, even once last year I spotted the day when hogs knocked the feeder down.

Not getting to go, or just knowing others are hunting while I'm at work.. Anything else that happens while I'm at the lease is better than a day at the office.. Something's always going to break...just have to deal with it.
Oh, and wasp and raccoons... I can't deal with seeing either.

Poop happens, how you react and adapt to the situation is up to you. But maybe it's just me, I don't care if I spent $1 or $1,000. I'm going to enjoy God's creations.

we started putting all our feeders on winches and tripods with at least 12' legs. Get the bottow of the barrel up higher than the cows can reach and stake the legs down. Let us get rid of the panels and fencing. Cows don't bother trying to eat the corn scattered on the ground. This works with the exception of longhorns. Those stupid critters forget they got horns and sling their heads way to much!!

Agree completely. quality equipment and well built pens go along ways in limiting your heart break.

Cows will figure out a way to take down a feeder eventually.....This was 12 feet up and staked down really well, see what they did to the T-post.

Went to set up feeders and pop-up blinds first weekend in September. A window on my elevated blind blew open and I wasn't at the property for 4 months. Vultures had moved in and there was s%*t everywhere on the inside, outside and even the ladder on the backside which is facing the woods! Multiple attempts to clean it and it still smells like a zoo. Was able to use it though last weekend for the Youth hunt...my 15-year old said it was good scent control. I'm going to disassemble the enclosed structure (4x8x6'5" tall) and replace the floor that is on the platform. I made plans when I built it and it's multiple 4' sections that fit on my 5x8 trailer. It's not worth renting a mobile pressure washer, I don't think I'll ever get the smell out.

At our old lease if a dang window was left open or something the owls would move in. What a mess! Pretty freaky too opening the door before sun up to an owl. Had a bunch try to fly in the stand while I was in there hunting. That'll get your blood pumping. Don't have the problem where we are now, but have lots of owls. Hear them all the time. Kinda weird.
Secede!!

I've given up on feeders, never had one work right when it counts. I just corn the area before I get in the stand.

Years ago I had a feeder with a plastic funnel. It was crushed by the weight of the corn. This happened before the start of the season, so I replaced it with a metal funnel. There is no savings buying low quality feeder/parts.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of cutting old fence wire off the drive shaft, in addition to getting stuck twice despite 4wd.

Yes I have experienced the bad battery bad timer clogged funnel it is crap for sure. Last year I was so jacked up for opening morning only to walk to my 15 foot tower stand only to find the box had been blown off and destroyed from a frontal storm that had blown thru a week before, I was crushed and totally bummed out. I spent Saturday frantically building new walls and setting them in place. Sunday morning I shot my biggest deer. Moral to the story, build your deer stand opening weekend to get the big one.

I don't depend on stands or feeders that I set up since I mostly still hunt & stalk. I am very fortunate to have sole access to a very large ranch to hunt and help oversee the oil trucks and people coming in and out of the property. I use to bow hunt from a low tree stand but not since having room to roam.. I never liked sitting in a box or over a feeder cause it ain't about the deer anymore...

I hate it when a feeder does not go off. Now I make sure I use a road feeder before season and everyday I hunt so there is always corn on the ground and the noise I make associated with putting the corn out. That is as good of a draw most days when I hunt as the feeder is. Some days deer won't even jump inside the feed pen to eat the corn at the feeder.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?
