Ok I suck at using the search button. I'm looking for info on Hornady 150gr SST in .308. Pro's, Con's and any pet loads. To be used in a Rem 700, Bartlein barrel@22in, JEC brake.

That's what I load for the grandson's 308. The load we use is a light one, but very accurate in his rifle (Ruger Int'l). It's just a hair over 41 gr of IMR 3031. He's shot a few hogs and deer, and the bullet worked fine.

This is also what I load with. 43.9 gr Varget + Lake City Long Range brass + CCI LR primer + 150 gr SST = laser beam. Toughest part for my OCD self was seating out beyond the cannelure.

Pros: it's accurate (much more so than the Accubonds I worked up), cheap, and usually readily available.
Cons: it's not a bonded bullet so you may get some jacket separation sometimes on certain shots, but it has never failed to impress any deer or hog.

All I shoot in my 308. It hammers everything from coyotes to mule deer. I run them hot with RL 15

Tips melt but other than that they are really good at 308 velocities.

I'm partial to 41.6 gr of IMR 4895. Works great in my Weatherby and my AR.

My go-to load in my Howa for that bullet is 45 grains of 748. Chrono's 2720-2740 fps consistently out of my 1:10 20" barrel, and is well under SAAMI presures too. Ive got brass that ive loaded 6 or 7 times with that load and the primer pockets are still nice and tight.

Shots almost about like the pic above @ 100 yds also.
