I have literally handled dozens of them....only had one that was even a little bit aggressive/defensive and it was just about to shed....very amazing snakes....I have 4 western diamondbacks right now....handled many of those as well....only had one that was passive....all the others (including the ones I have now) buzz if I get within 5'-15'..... I'm glad you didn't kill it......

So, got a call from my truly Ophidiophobic wife letting me know we had a new friend in the garage. Young Timber rattler. My wife would have called me from our new house.

Mmmm Hmmm

Don't need a permit or license to keep them if they are not protected....I only have native Texas snakes...not into exotics (HF of LF...lol) Seriously, you can obtain a permit to keep endangered/threatened reptiles from TPWD but it is extremely difficult....I couldn't get a permit for a timber even when I worked for them....
You do have to have a hunting license and reptile stamp to hunt on roads.....if I find them on roads I simply move them off the road.

They all seem to have the same mean look to em, like they're frowning at ya, po'd at the world. Pretty markings though. It must be the eyes!
