I have literally handled dozens of them....only had one that was even a little bit aggressive/defensive and it was just about to shed....very amazing snakes....I have 4 western diamondbacks right now....handled many of those as well....only had one that was passive....all the others (including the ones I have now) buzz if I get within 5'-15'.....

I'm glad you didn't kill it...... up

Do you have to have any kind of permit or license to keep them? Or can any ol person just keep any poisonous snake they want?

lol. My wife can't even look at a picture of snakes and seems she finds more of them than I do. She found the five footer last year in the driveway.

Don't need a permit or license to keep them if they are not protected....I only have native Texas snakes...not into exotics (HF of LF...lol) Seriously, you can obtain a permit to keep endangered/threatened reptiles from TPWD but it is extremely difficult....I couldn't get a permit for a timber even when I worked for them....

You do have to have a hunting license and reptile stamp to hunt on roads.....if I find them on roads I simply move them off the road.
