Was watching a documentary on drones this weekend and this technology is getting cheaper and better at a very fast rate. I'm sure guys in Texas are already using them as "mobile" gam cams for scouting purposes. In Alaska this would be potentially illegal under their existing aerial scouting laws. Do you think it should be controlled in Texas?

They are already developing drones that can use thermal cameras for search and rescue. I can envision a day where you send up your drone at 5am to ID the location of all deer on your lease before picking your stand for the morning. Is this letting too much technology into the sport? Or just the natural progression?

Not a fan using them for hunting or TC that send you a pic via text or email for hunting. I see nothing wrong with using them to day before but am against using one and hunting the same day. But it is going to be almost impossible to control the use of them without some kind of regs.

In New Mexico they are outlawed because people were doing deer drives with them.

Drones and high fences. It don't get any better than that.

Yould find me with bow in hand, heading ta WMA to put up my stand... & me favoret hog hunts still wondering about the woods ... Tis a good question... Each will have their own opinion... From what I've seen, the potential is there, but not for deer. I think they will scare deer because they are so loud, but as already mentioned, that could be used to drive them towards you. Might be a good thing for hogs, anything that leads to fewer hogs out there is a very good thing!!!

I would imagine this already falls under remote controlled hunting restriction. granted you arent shooting projectiles from the drone, but its still remote controlled...I guess it depends if scouting or pressure would be considered part of hunting. I think its not fair game.

Also aircraft may not be used to hunt any animal or bird unless authorized by the department. Thats in the outdoor annual. Again, would depend if scouting or pressure is considered part of the hunt, but its not a line im going to cross to find out.

I dont have many kills. I am not yet a good hunter. Im learning and like the hunt and stalk and figuring how to do things better....I dont want to cheat though. I want to earn my kills not be handed them thanks to technology. I go hunt to get away from the daily grind and tv and computers...

I'm not a fan. Just putting out there for discussion. 10 years ago I thought game cams where a gimmick and unsportsmanlike. Now they're an indispensable tool. I hope drones aren't common place 10 years from now.

A man's got to live by a code, a creed to live by. There is a difference in hunting wild game and shooting wild game. Real men hunt wild game that are allowed to roam freely. Others like to shoot wild game that have been pen raised and not allowed to roam freely. I have no stomach for the later, even if that pen is over one thousand acres big. And assuming by your resentfulness I feel like you are one of those that hunt on a property that is high fenced, and were offended so you had to go after the poster about something very trivia opposed to actually talking about the point of what was said.

High fences are nice and all, but a lot of the fun gets taken out of hunting with all the modern day stuff.

When I was a kid the pre-season scouting was shed hunting, now people have cameras everywhere and know what's out there without a bit of imagination left to it. It's really neat, but idk I wouldn't do it myself. Same thing when it comes to drones and what have you. Technology is amazing and downright scary at times.

I don't think drones will be allowed for any purpose directly involving the act of hunting. If current legislation doesn't prohibit it, I'm betting future legiation will.

We? I've seen other posts completely ignoring the poster. Your the one trying to fixate on it. I've been trying to move past it but you keep bringing it up. I've already expressed by opinion that it doesn't matter to me who says something, but I care about what they say. I see you take a difference stance and thats perfectly fine.
