Starting a thread for the Taylor county area guys to report about what they're seeing in their area.
Mature bucks have disappeared from game cams on our place. Seems that most of the doe are being hounded by bucks and are staying away from feeders also. Must be getting close.....
Lots of rubs and scrapes around feeders and food plots. New bucks starting to show up!

We watched a good buck come into a feeder with a doe and two fawns. The doe was interested in him at all so he chased the fawns around. I'm with you, I think next weekend should be the ticket. Good luck!

Post lots of pics. I miss hunting that area and my old buddies still in Texas seem to forget to send me pictures.

No one's been on our place for several weeks now so I don't have any pics...but I'll have the place to myself opening weekend and hopefully the wheat has come in...sure had plenty of rain out that way. If they're starting to chase it could make for a fantastic weekend.

Our place received 5.5 inches last week. Food plots are starting to look nice. Chance of rain on Wednesday/Thursday this week again.

Hunted Sat/Sun in SW Taylor county....wouldn't say rut was on but the bucks are definitely interested. Saw a good number of deer each hunt so optimistic about the new lease. All of this activity is very recent....I was averaging about 20-30 pics per week in September (1/2 of which were birds)...checked my cam Friday afternoon and had 537 pics in last 3 weeks...very few of birds so activity is definitely picking up....its like somebody flipped a switch Our lease has the only wheat for miles in any direction so I'm sure we'll see more deer as the fields start coming in.

Watched 15 doe in the wheat this morning and not a single buck. Picking the kiddo up and he and I are gonna give it a shot for him to get that first deer. Wish us luck! He did punch a tag this weekend.

Well Jasb, any luck?
I may give it a go tomorrow afternoon, if the wind isn't too bad.

walked the canyons on my land a few days ago. Acorns hit big time. Parts of the woods are just covered with them. I guess that why the deer have not been coming to the corn as much the last week

I may give it a go tomorrow afternoon, if the wind isn't too bad. Little man got him one. Not much going the last 2 nights until dark. Haven't seen anything running doe but small bucks. Lots of slick heads and fawns...discouraged but my son had a ball so it's all good.

Good luck to you guys. Should be chilly in the big country by morning.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Ok...my brother was in the blind this morning and deer were moving very well. A lot of bucks chasing does pre-dawn and he was able to remove a few pigs from the system. Best news is there are definitely some new guys showing up...headed out this afternoon...hopefully with more pics to post....

Didn't see a lot of movement yesterday afternoon, but I let a 4 1/2 Yr old 8 walk. Neck is swoll and hocks were jet black. Should be a great buck in a year or two. Back at it this morning. Hand corn and Tinks 69 are out and waiting for daylight. Good luck to everyone hunting this morning.
