3rd rifle in southwest Colorado. This was my third attempt and first really good opportunity. What an awesome creature they are up close!

I saw a bigger bull Saturday morning at 8 am but he skirted inside the tree line and never gave me a shot. One of the other guys shot that bull on Saturday evening below where I was set up. I thought for sure I'd seen my opportunity come and go. Another friend set up about 500 yds to my right on Sunday morning to cover the part of the field I couldn't see. He shoots right at legal shooting light and again I'm feeling a little unlucky. Fortunately the bull he shot had 5 cows and another bull with him. They must have circled back down and around because my bull walked out about an hour later. 300 yds and facing me. Looked a little spooky so I took the shot at his chest. He took a Barnes 180 grain TTSX (30-06) to his front right shoulder, ran about 50 yds into some trees and began to destroy some dirt and tree limbs. He took another 2 shots before giving up. They sure can take some punishment.

Great job, never give up. I still get amazed every time I walk up to one, they are a big, beautiful animal.
