Yep, and they love the leaves that are yellow and falling to the ground, that is when they have their highest sugar content (the leafs). I have seen then mess with the "apples", but they seem to prefer the leaves.

Thanks Western. We can see 2 horse apple trees from one of our blinds. Just wondering if they pay attention to them.

Rolling the apples under your house is supposed to keep cockroaches away, assuming you're on pier and beam. Old time pest control.

I read to chop em in half first. I did that a couple of years ago, and it seemed to help.

I've seen some very cool rifle stocks made with bois d'arc.

I've had a block hanging in the ceiling of my shop for about 5 years. It's 3" x 5" x 40".

I bet it is ready I just don't have a barreled action in mind to put in a future stock. I knew a guy that had a guitar made out of bois d' arc and mesquite all cut from Texas, it was very sharp!

One tree used by many indian tribes for bows, very resilient wood. I have sent a few "sticks" to a fella once in Georgia who made longbows.

From what I have seen deer doing, they hove the apple to get to the center, kinda like East does with an M&M grin

Their leaves are amazing right now on our place. We have a row of them 1/2 mile long in a perfect line. I guess it was an old property boundary.

All I know, is that I've hunted around them for years and have yet to see a deer go to them.
