So I am in line for a lab radar. For those of you that don't know it is a chronograph that radar waves to measure speed. It is the most accurate way to measure velocity. Also it can be used in any condition and doesn't affect the gun in anyway.
My question is this A) would a chronograph service be valuable to you? I would meet you at a range and record velocity/call shots B) how much would you pay C) what factors would impact your decision to use this service or not
Thanks

I just got notice mine is not due to ship til year end .... just have to make due with the Magneto-speed until then I reckon.
Not a bad idea to offer the service but unless you live very close to a range not sure economically feasible once all the driving and time factors are figured. Of course if you are at the range a lot could be doable.

So I live close to elm fork. So it is not that bad of a time commitment
My main reason for doing this is a) give people a way to get good speeds. I know the shooting chrony is not accurate and can vary widely depeninding on environmental situations and b) defer the costs a bit for it. I am not looking to turn it into a huge money making endevaour.

This would be a great service for your run of the mill hunter that wants to buy a custom dial for their scope or something like that. I have no idea what people would pay for this but its a great Idea. Heck, I would pay someone a little just to check my magneto-speed against it to insure its reading accurately. It seems to read a little slow to me but it could be that Im hoping for more than is realistic.
I will be very interested to see the accuracy of lab radar. I am also on the list for the end of this year (I hope).

So Elm Fork is your only location to meet people? As long as the drive isn't too bad, and you're very flexible with your schedule, I think you could recoup some funds. Can you ask the powers the be if you can post a flier at the range? That may help the phone ring more often.

Agreed
I could do other ranges but it would more difficult and take longer. Your range is 90ish minutes away, so driving 3 hours for 25 isn't going to make sense. However if I parlay it into some shooting that's different.
Ideally I would want to block like 3-4 people together at a range. I am really not aware of too many other ranges inside dfw.
I was thinking 25ish but not sure.

You might want to take up the idea with the range first.

The speeds are pretty close. Ditto here. Before I bought mine I used a friend's who owned both a Magneto-Speed and the Oehler with 3 screens and we both shot multiple rifles thru the Oehler while the Magneto was also attched and they were quite close. I had the Shooting Chrony and I think sometimes it was accurate but other ocassions when lighting was angled the numbers were suspect. Once they installed extended overhangs at my range to buffer sounds that made using it even more difficult. Hoping the Doppler machine is all the Magneto is plus no POI change or swapping from barrel to barrel. Cleric has a solution to a need and this new machine solves some of the issues associated with that such as folks shooting your Chrony or the variability of attaching something to your barrel with the MS.

If you can coordinate with myself and a few shooters, you're welcome to bring it to my range. Shoot while you're there.

Good to know
I should have my unit before turkey day
I may also look into the competitions that do major/minor calculation. But I think a lot of people who run those will buy themselves
