I really like the ATN Gun Camera, but have found that the videos I take really get messed up by the recoil and muzzle blast of anything larger than a 22LR. So I set about trying to get a portable, stable platform that would allow me take better videos. I cut a couple of pieces of 2X4, glued and screwed the pieces together. Then a drilled a shallow 1/4 in hole in the bottom of the 2X4 sandwich and into this hole I epoxied a nut that would accommodate the mounting bolts used on tripods for securing a camera or video camera. Then I found some pieces of scope mounting gear that I could use to rig a mini-Picatinny rail for the ATN Shot Trak to attach to. I started out using a piece of 3/4 inch dowel rod, but found that it was difficult to "aim" the Shot Trak, so I cut a piece of light weight conduit pipe and used it. Now I can "sight" through the conduit and be pretty sure I've got the camera pointed correctly. I used pipe clamps to fasten the conduit to the 2X4 base. Spray painted it all a flat black color, and have been quite pleased with the results. If I'm sitting in an established blind, I can use a tripod; if I'm in an elevated chair, I can clamp it to the safety rail; if I happen to have a flat surface, I can just set it right down. Here's a couple of pics. It ain't real purty, but it works!
