I have great-granddads old shotgun...the 5V 1965 model browning a5 magnum. It needs new wood on both ends and a complete re-blue job...other than that it is functional. Some have suggested re-tapping the barrel for choke replacement, but I am not planning on changing anything else on the gun. I need help on who to send this thing to for the work mentioned... Thanks.

My dad had his completely re-done a few years back. New stocks, gold trigger, fully teflon coated. I THINK it went to Garland Gilbreath in Stephenville, but I'll confirm and respond back. If I get busy and forget, nag me about it. It looks like a new gun.

id leave the original wood on it and try to repair if possible.. to me it would take away from its value to just replace.. but if its past repair then not much can do

I had these folks do a Model 12 for me, it came back looking like the original factory finish. http://www.bosesofnebraska.com/rebluing.htmlP_102

They claim to buff polish, not something I would want associated with an A5 and all its holes and crisp edges.

First, don't thread the barrel. Second is the bluing really showing pits and rust or just "soft spots?" Third, I'm fine with the re-stock if you want to use it, just keep your old wood.
