Found some land for sale in Kempner. The lady that inherited it doesn't have any history on the land as far as hunting goes. Has anyone hinted Kempner before? Does it have a good population?

About 30 min from there. most of it is over hunted small deer etc. the good news is there are generally lots of them. If you have good neighbors it could be ok. I just ended up putting up a high fence.

how close to town and which side of kempner? I've herd of really good deer south and west towards the river, also is there's any exotics around they probably stay within a few miles of the river.

I can answer that question Thursday once I go do a walk through of the land. The address the realtor gave me doesn't come up on my maps. From what I could tell is it is by the plant off of 2313, but I will get an exact location.

It has a box stand and two feeders so I'm assuming her dad hunted it when he still owned the land.

Check out the neighboring properties as well. If they are all under 100 acres...well you probably know the deal

2313 is in between Kempner and Lampasas. Tons of people live in that area. Lots of small tracts. I would say more people hunt than dont hunt, but I dont think every single piece of property is crawling with hunters. Lots of deer in that area. Getting meat should be no problem at all.

hunted about 5 miles south of Kempner on the Burnet/Lampasas county line about 25 years ago. I suspect a lot has changed in that time frame but our lease was a true meat lease, heavy hunting pressure on all sides but could see 20-40 deer (does/fawns/yearlings) during any morning or afternoon hunt. I am not sure if there has been any concerted efforts into proper management around that area. Lampasas county has AR these days, just something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the info all, I am going to look at it tomorrow at 6. I am torn right now between Kempner and moody, but the price for this place seems pretty good

If I had to choose between Kempner and Moody for hunting. I'd take Kempner. Bucks are getting bigger every year around there.
