Will be headed out to Blackwell in a few weeks. How's everything looking out there?
I would say it couldn't be better for this time of year! Still lots of green and standing water in low areas. Quail numbers are as high as I have ever seen although we don't hunt them on our place. Turkey numbers are way up as well. Hogs (at least in the pasture I hunt) seem to be few and far between in comparison to years past. Horns are not the biggest I have ever seen on our place but I can say there are far more bucks with potential this year than I can ever remember. Lots and lots of young 10's running around this year!! Bodies are in really good shape this year! Even the guys at the processor were talking about how healthy the deer are that are being brought in. Overall I would say you can expect an above average year for the area. Maybe even well above average depending on what your age structure looks like on your place.
